Many a business and business person are now turning to social media sites such as Facebook to promote themselves. All you need to do is follow the three simple steps in this article and you will be successful. Nine out of ten businesses fail with their social media efforts; don't be one of them.
When using Facebook as a strategy, the first thing is to remember Facebook is a social networking site. People are using the site to share experiences and interact with each other; they are not there to be sold to. At this point it is also worth noting some selling basics and that is people want to buy from those they know like and trust.
So with that in mind let's outline the three strategies that will make you money with Facebook.
#1) Add Friends - This may seem silly and almost very basic information but you need people to interact with, two hundred friends will not be enough to generate the number of leads you are looking for. There is of course a right way and a wrong way to do this. Firstly don't just add people for the sake of adding them, make sure they are interested in your area of expertise or what you are promoting, for example if you are selling fishing rods look on the persons profile and see if they have fishing listed as an interest. A quick way to ensure they will be interested in your niche area is to join a group on Facebook relating to that area e.g. fishing groups or pages.
Facebook allows you to have a maximum of five thousand friends per account, make sure you use them and use them wisely. A top tip when adding friends is to send a brief message with your friend request for example 'Hey Trevor, I see you like fishing, so do I, would be great to connect'.
#2) Post Content - This is a fundamental key that will highly determine your level of success by attracting people to you and turning them into buyers. Post genuine content on your wall, a page or a group's wall that people can use and will find interesting. A blog post, articles you may have come across, or perhaps a video that you found useful are all example of great content types to share. Just ensure that the content you are sharing is relative to the people who you are sharing it with.
#3) Give Value - Always, always give and provide value, genuinely help people and they will thank you and remember you for it. If someone posts a question on a wall or on their status and you know the answer, help them out by answering them or by pointing them in the right direction of the answer. Show people you care and you will be rewarded, it's that simple.
