Promoting your business using internet marketing has the potential to give your business phenomenal exposure to new prospects. As a business owner using internet marketing you now have the opportunity to go beyond traditional methods of marketing such as newspaper adverts, classified adverts, flyers and telephone books that are only confined to a small area of distribution.

The global phenomenon that is the internet reaches to all four corners of the globe. As a business using internet marketing as your preferred method of promotion, you are literally a click of a mouse away from a global audience.

How can I promote my business by using internet marketing?

The list of different techniques and strategies that can be used is endless to market your business online. As a business owner you will have to decide if you are willing to pay to market your business or would like to use the free methods available, maybe you will use a combination of both?

Paid strategies consist of things like pay per click adverts, safe list email campaigns, banner adverts, etc. These methods are very effective as they can start to send traffic to your website almost immediately after you have implemented them. The downside to the paid method of promotion is that you have to a) pay for it and b) the campaign will only last a certain amount of time, meaning only so many people will see it.


My favourite methods consist of the free strategies. Blogging, social media, video marketing, podcasting and article marketing are all example of free methods. Free strategies will not start to generate large amounts of traffic straight away, but the beauty of the free methods is that your content stays online for as long as you want it, working for you day and night. It is quite possible that an article you have written three years ago will still be sending you traffic to site.

Whenever you are using internet marketing to promote your business, the important thing to remember whether you are using paid or free strategies is keyword research. Keywords can simply be defined as to what your target market may be entering into the search engines when they are looking for something.

You could post as much quality content, with super amounts of value for the potential prospect to use, but if it is not key worded correctly, it will never be found. When using internet marketing this is where the majority of people fail, by not using effective keyword research.
